Even Jimmy Buffett Followed His Dreams

I’ve been to just about every Jimmy Buffett concert since I’ve lived in Cincinnati, Ohio. And every year I am amazed at the thousands of people who show up to hear the same songs again and again. People genuinely love Jimmy Buffett and Maragartitaville. They love the concert, the music, and the people. In fact, it might be the single “happiest” place I’ve ever been. I have never run into anyone rude at a Buffett concert. I’m sure it happens, just not in my personal experience. Buffett has created a unique musical experience. People come as much for the music as they do the atmosphere. And all of this happened because someone in the music industry once told Jimmy Buffett “he’d never make it in the music industry.”
Oops. That’s the thing about dreams. There’s lots of people who say you can’t do it. They might even be experts. But that doesn’t mean they are right. If Buffett had listened to the “expert” his entire life would have been different. The lives of millions of people would be different. Instead he packed up what he had, formed a band, and moved to find work. That’s a kind of life that we can all admire. So here’s the question, are you ready to move for what you love?
